Stag and Hen Northwest adopt Cloud technology to support their expansion across the UK
Openshaw based Stag and Hen Northwest was founded by Mike Ferguson in 2009, after he found himself made redundant in the midst of the recession.
Four years on the company is now responsible for arranging stag and hen weekends and other social events in Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester, offering a personal service with round-the-clock customer care. Customers can choose from popular packages or build their own from the accommodation and various activities on offer.
Mike says: “When I was first made redundant, I faced taking jobs that didn’t play to my strengths and background of working in hospitality for Manchester City FC, or creating my own job, which I believed would be more fulfilling. I obtained funding from New East Manchester and was referred on to Business Growth Hub when NEM stopped operating. I used the Business Growth Hub to obtain advice on business and technical issues such as cloud computing and now work with one of their partners. “We have now just taken on our first employee, Aisha Reid, as a Marketing, Events and Sales Coordinator, who has also taken a change of career direction in the face of industry-wide cut backs. Aisha studied law at university and had worked as a personal injury fee-earner but had never been passionate about what she was doing. In the face of industry redundancies in the wake of the Jackson reforms, she used the opportunity to change careers and do something she really loves. We’re excited to have her on board and it’s great to know that set-backs can be turned into positives”.
The Business Growth Hub introduced Mike to a number of recommended partners who have been able to help him find and put in place the right cloud computing package to enable him to grow the business and support their expansion into more cities. Cloud computing has allowed Stag and Hen Northwest to operate more efficiently which has helped with their expansion into other cities. It has also improved accessibility, allowing the Directors and employees to work elsewhere or on the move when required.
